How to look after synthetic wigs

Not all synthetic fibres are made equal. There are so many processes and formulas required to create the different textures that we have so come to take for granted.

Some fibres are designed to be high temperature fibres; fibres that you can tong or dip in hot water. Generally these are more resilient and versatile than low temperature fibres.

All synthetic fibres have one thing in common: friction ruins them.

Some fibres are specially coated to reduce tangling, but eventually even these fibres succumb to the...of friction.

So, if you want your wig/synthetic hair to last and you want to reduce tangling the key is to reduce friction.

The easiest way to do this is 1) finger comb where possible rather than using a brush 2) always apply water.

It's not the fibre, it's the way you treat it.
